After the Intel price move on 4/21, the price of Q6700 has been smashed down half from originally $550 plus to about $280. It’s just like the Q6600 before. So i decided to pick up a piece and fire it up. Got it around $280 from newegg, together with the eVGA 780i board. Stock clock is 2.66GHz compared to Q6600 with 2.4GHz. The best part is it features with 10 multiplier vs 9 multiplier on Q6600, which makes it slightly better oc than the Q6600. Of course you get what you pay for. I oc’ed upto 3.4GHz without altering the voltage with the Zalman 9700 and upto 3.7GHz and around 1.25V. Hell fast to use it for video encoding. Sad thing… it isn’t 45nm. Overall, it’s just slenderly better than a Q6600.
