The guys at TG Daily has unveiled some details on the launch of the AMD upcoming ATI Radeon 4800 Series cards. According to the source, the first card will be reportedly for a release in mid of next month and it will be the Radeon 4850, codenamed “Makedon”, which features 512 MB of GDDR3 memory with single-slot cooling, CrossFireX support, and cost between $189-$219. AMD will follow up in July by boosting out a pair of “Trojans”, Radeon 4870 and Radeon 4870 X2. The Radeon 4870 features 512MB of GDDR5 memory with a dual-slot cooler while the X2 highlights a full 1024MB and they come with a price tag between $249 and $279. Interestingly, these upcoming cards pack “game physics processing capability”, 7.1 channel-via-HDMI support as well as DirectX 10.1 support. Of course they require better power supply; a 450 watt unit for a single card and a 550 watt version for CrossFire.
