After the launch of 45nm Quad-cores and some price cuts in the late of April 2008, until now what we see is the supply of the 45nm Quads isn’t healthy except the Q9300 model and yet Intel plans to launch some new desktops Quads and Duals in Q3, sometime in August. Beside the launch, Intel is going to update the pricing of its existing desktop CPUs.

Two new Quads, Q9650 and Q9400 will be kicked out. The performance-level Yorkfield Q9650 yields a 3GHz clock speed and 12MB cache with 1333FSB while the Q9400 will be a replacement for the current Q9450, which has the same specifications except it comes with smaller cache of 6MB. Both Q9650 and Q9400 will be selling for $530 and $270. We heard that Q9550 will be slashed price to around $320, 40% off from $530 while the Q9450 will be phased out and replaced by the Q9400. So do the Q9300 and Q6700 will be phased out. Interestingly, Intel will keep the Q6600 with a lower price tag for around $200. Probably Intel loves its first ever made Quad-core, Q6600 so much.

On the dual-cores, Intel will be launching the E8600 and E7200. This will make E8600 to be the beast of the dual-core line by featuring a slightly higher clock speed of 3.33GHz with the price point at where the E8500 right now, $270. Eventually, the E8500 and E8400 will be slashed price to around $190 and $170. The new entry level E7300 packs with a 2.66GHz clock speed for $135 while the current model E7200 will be dropped price to $120.

Pretty much in Q3, Intel will be loading all its 45nm weapons to gun down its rival.
